The liver is a major organ in the body that is essential for life.

The liver is under the ribs on the right side of the body.

The liver is like a manufacturing plant. Food that is digested in the gut is absorbed into the veins and delivered to the liver. The liver uses the raw materials from food to make proteins, fats, and carbohydrates that are necessary for life. The finished products from the liver go to the heart to be delivered to the rest of the body. The liver also filters out bad things like bacteria and toxins.
