Liver Injury

We have tests that can tell us if the liver is being injured and also some idea of how quickly it is being injured. However, it is important to know that some common things do not tell us how quickly the liver is being damaged:

Symptoms: you may feel normal even though a lot of the liver has been damaged
Ultrasound: liver may look normal while it is being injured

For this reason, all patients with chronic liver disease should have regular checkups.
