Acute resolving infection is what happens when healthy adults are infected. The immune system successfully fights off the hepatitis B virus. Some of the liver may be damaged during this fight, which is why you may be sick with flu-like symptoms, or even jaundice (turning yellow). However, these symptoms should go away on its own. Once the infection is gone, you are immune and cannot be re-infected.
