In general, the hepatitis B virus must get into your bloodstream through a break in the skin or mucous membranes. It is most commonly spread from mother to infant during childbirth and via sexual contact. Hepatitis B is NOT spread by sharing food. It is important to know how you can pick up hepatitis B because this is the first step in preventing hepatitis B.
